The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) announced that Sun Tran has won a first place award in the 28th Annual AdWheel Award competition for its “Sober Up” public service announcement in the Illustrated Bus category. In partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the City of Tucson’s Department of Transportation, the bus illustration was designed to positively impact the lives of our youth and discourage underage drinking. The AdWheel Awards, which recognize excellence in public transportation marketing and communications, were presented at a gala awards ceremony on October 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of APTA’s 2007 Annual Meeting. More than 750 entries were received in this year’s competition. “Receiving a coveted AdWheel Award is a prestigious accomplishment and should be celebrated as a mark of originality, creativity, and excellence in public transportation marketing and communications,” said APTA President William W. Millar.
Sun Tran is Tucson’s award-winning regional public transportation system, which is operated by Professional Transit Management, Ltd. (PTM), under contract with the City of Tucson. With more than 520 employees, 38 fixed routes and a fleet of 199 buses, Sun Tran’s mission is to provide safe, reliable, well maintained and cost effective public transportation with a team of innovative and diverse employees, dedicated to our customers, the environment and the community.
