AzTA’s 25th Anniversary Magazine

As they usually ask, “It’s not what happened in the past, or even what you’ve done today, but what will you do tomorrow?”  With the celebration of AzTA’s 25th Anniversary, it is fair to say that we’ve covered all of those bases. For Instance:

• AzTA’s history is rich with participation, including a list of who’s who as leaders of Arizona’s public transportation industry, from 1987 until now.
• AzTA’s early days grew out of meetings between transit managers in Glendale, Tempe, Mesa, and Bullhead City, and today, AzTA is much more than just that!
• Association advocacy efforts have and continue to be the primary effort in addressing public transportation needs with the legislature and stakeholders, through conferences, legislative days, and support of issues statewide
• Partnerships with other organizations throughout the state are a key to Association success—and continue to grow each day.
• AzTA and ADOT work hand-in-hand to promote transit programs, education and training, and mobility coordination, including Operator and Maintenance Technician Roadeos!
• AzTA, through its members, work to pass local and regional funding support, and AzTA promises—there’s more to come.
• AzTA promotes transit “evolution” with creative solutions to tough challenges in service delivery and funding
• Association members are leaders in alternative fuels and other advanced technologies that improve quality of life for all of us while taking advantage of cutting edge ideas.
• AzTA leadership works with local, regional, and state agencies to create multi-year local and regional plans that bring continual improvements in public transportation services in urban and rural Arizona.
• The Association supports efforts to re-build city rail infrastructure from the early 1900’s with light rail in the Phoenix metro area, and soon to be modern streetcar in Tucson and Tempe.
• AzTA members look to the future for solutions that connect regions, including passenger rail between Phoenix and Tucson metros, and beyond…………….
• And, AzTA advocates for creating a new transit generation…that can envision and utilize mobility solutions for the next 25 years.
