General Description/Information

MAG is seeking a qualified Transportation Engineer I or II to support technical work in the Transportation Technical Services (TTS) Division. The ideal candidate will be working in Conformity Network and Requests Program. This position will focus on activities including but not limited to responding to technical requests from MAG member-agencies and MAG staff, maintaining and developing transportation modeling networks and managing relevant projects. Technical work mainly involves application of MAG transportation forecasting models and transportation data sets in order to provide high quality technical services for MAG member agencies and MAG planning projects. Specific applications will include development of MAG conformity transportation modeling networks, travel demand and traffic volume forecasting, modeling results analyses and project management. Ability to develop and maintain strong rapport and close coordination with MAG member-agencies staff and various MAG teams is paramount. The candidate must have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, presentation, research, analytical and customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook is required. Experience in travel demand modeling software, including TransCAD, GIS (especially Arc-GIS), R-package, and software programming skills will be a strong benefit.

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or Geo-Science or at least three (3) years of relevant verifiable experience. A master’s degree and/or graduate work in a related field, such as urban planning, transportation engineering, GIS and public sector experience are preferable.
