Human Trafficking Awareness: Transit’s Role and Responsibility

This is a PAST event.

July 14, 2020

Human traffickers exploit legitimate systems within multiple business sectors for their own profits. Traffickers are using resources within the transportation sector to move their victims and transportation is a way out for survivors. Transit can play a key role in the prevention, detection, and disruption of human trafficking. This introductory session will help you understand what human trafficking is and provide free resources and tips to create buy-in for meaningful training program development.

Topics will include:

· Understanding what human trafficking is and how it is affecting the transportation sector;

· Utilizing existing resources for safely reporting cases of suspected human trafficking;

· Influencing co-workers, business associates, community, family and friends to join in the fight to end modern-day slavery;

· Utilizing existing resources to conduct awareness training in your transit agency.
