Sun Tran Rolls out ‘RIDE WITH RESPECT’ Campaign

SunTran Bus

Sun Tran has launched a new campaign called Ride with Respect, an initiative that encourages bus riding etiquette to grant a respectful and positive experience for all bus riders.

With nearly 50,000 passengers riding every weekday, Sun Tran’s mission is to provide a safe and reliable public transportation system for everyone. Like similar campaigns in other U.S. transit systems, Ride with Respect establishes consistent guidelines for passenger behavior on the bus and discourages disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate behaviors on transit vehicles.

The guidelines, which focus on safety and security as well as kindness and courteousness, are posted throughout the transit centers as well as inside buses to be visible to every rider. Passengers can also find information on the Sun Tran website and in the Tucson Transit User
Guide.

Sun Tran’s General Manager, Steve Spade, states “Sun Tran takes the well-being, safety and security of our passengers and operators very seriously. Our goal is to build the confidence of all riders to know they will have a safe and enjoyable experience while riding the bus.” Local children’s entertainer, Mr. Nature, brings the campaign’s message to life in a video series called “That’s How We Roll.” In the videos, Mr. Nature covers riding-etiquette topics like moving for seniors and disabled persons, keeping the aisle clear, talking at a low volume, using headphones, not drinking or eating on the bus, and being respectful to drivers and other passengers.

The “That’s How We Roll” videos are available on Sun Tran’s website and YouTube channel.
